{"id":21,"date":"2011-08-25T20:35:19","date_gmt":"2011-08-26T03:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/?p=21"},"modified":"2011-08-25T20:35:19","modified_gmt":"2011-08-26T03:35:19","slug":"who-is-catechumenate-guy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/?p=21","title":{"rendered":"Who is Catechumenate Guy?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Who is Catechumenate Guy?\u00a0 A person who was first introduced to the process while studying at the University of Notre Dame in the early &#8217;80&#8217;s.\u00a0 A person who has been blessed to be able to minister at various levels and in various denominations in the catechumenate.\u00a0 A person who believes that the catechumenate has been a leaven for the church throughout her life.\u00a0 A person who ponders &#8220;matters catechumenal&#8221; and wants to reflect on these pages.\u00a0 A person who invites your reflections and comments as well.<\/p>\n<p>More concretely:\u00a0 I was baptized as a Roman Catholic Christian infant and formed by Christian parents who took their baptismal covenant (even though they wouldn&#8217;t call it that) very seriously.\u00a0 I went to Mt. Angel Seminary in Oregon as a high school freshman and left after my sophomore year of college.\u00a0 I studied philosophy and history of religions at the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC).\u00a0 Rather than return to the seminary as I planned, I married and moved to Southern California.\u00a0 I decided to continue in the area of theology with the hope of teaching at a college, seminary or university.\u00a0 I focused on Scripture during a Master&#8217;s program at Claremont School of Theology and moved on to the University of Notre Dame to study systematic theology.<\/p>\n<p>While at Notre Dame I was introduced to the catechumenate at our local parish.\u00a0 I enjoyed &#8220;adult education.&#8221;\u00a0 The catechumenate drew me in.\u00a0 After finishing studies at Notre Dame I became the first RCIA Director for the local Diocese of Ft Wayne-South Bend.\u00a0 I was also active in the North American Forum on the Catechumenate at this time.\u00a0 After a few years I became the first Executive Director of the National Council for Catholic Evangelization.\u00a0 I ministered at the parochial level on a catechumenate team at our local parish in Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>We moved back to the West Coast in 1990 where I once again joined a catechumenate team at our parish.\u00a0 Ironically involvement in that team inspired my decision to cross over to the Episcopal branch of the Church.\u00a0 In 1995 I discovered that the Episcopal Church also exercises a catechumenal ministry.\u00a0 I am currently Catechumenate Director at Trinity Cathedral, Sacramento, California, a consultant for the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California, a board member on the North American Association for the Catechumenate and still a member of the North American Forum on the Catechumenate.<\/p>\n<p>There are numerous stories associated with the above brief description of my journey.\u00a0 Some will emerge in the following reflections.<\/p>\n<p>Shalom!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Who is Catechumenate Guy?\u00a0 A person who was first introduced to the process while studying at the University of Notre Dame in the early &#8217;80&#8217;s.\u00a0 A person who has been blessed to be able to minister at various levels and &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/?p=21\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_editorskit_title_hidden":false,"_editorskit_reading_time":0,"_editorskit_is_block_options_detached":false,"_editorskit_block_options_position":"{}","_crdt_document":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-21","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=21"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":23,"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21\/revisions\/23"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=21"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=21"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/catechumenate-guyblog.org\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=21"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
